Jack Alexander is from Colchester, Essex – Britain’s oldest recorded town. He is currently working as an IT apprentice at Ginger Nut Media… that’s the end of his Tech story. But now let’s take a look at how he got here…
Jack has had an interest in Tech for as long as her can remember. It started at the young age of 11, when he got his very first computer and within minutes his interest had sparked. That computer was one of his main hobbies something that he would you use on a daily basis. Whether it was homework or games, he still loved it. From then it was something he always wanted to learn more about.
A passion for computers grew from this, and that passion carried on right through secondary school, where he did an ICT GCSE and was able to learn a lot more about IT. It allowed him to see how things work, how computers are made and even the coding of them. Furthermore more he went on to carry on building this knowledge outside of school, by learning more about his own computer at home and how he could improve it. He then started to write programmes and come up with this own games that he made himself.
Out of secondary school he went into college and again he followed his appetite for computing, choosing a computing and computer modelling course. This is something that he loved, it allowed him to develop his knowledge much further and increased his interest in the code based side of IT. By discovering a hobby in something that he loved, it allowed him to focus on his interests and strengths giving him a clear path.
Jack continued to study tech throughout college, growing all the skills he had much further. By this point Jack had outstanding tech expertise and his interest was getting much larger. Jack often found that tech allowed him to escape reality and be able to relax by spending his time working with and learning about computers.
Once jack had finished college he found that he had very little direction in terms of where and how to progress, he was unsure of the options that he had. He felt that there was very little opportunities in his local area and thought he was not going to be able to carry on perusing a tech career and was worried he was going to take a job that he wouldn’t enjoy.
As well this, he also had pressure from his family to going into cooking which most of them are involved in. However, Jack hit gold when he came across Ginger Nut Media, where he took an apprenticeship working in the IT department. This was something that was perfect for Jack, he loved the role and the work that he was doing as it was what he had wanted to do for some time. Ginger Nut Media tailored the role and his apprenticeship around him making it the perfect job for him and allowing him to build his future role in tech.
