the ginger nut project.
Supporting individuals into meaningful careers through confidence, experience and opportunity
not pressure
The Challenge
The issue is access.
- Confidence
- Stability
- Exposure to professional environments
How the Ginger Nut Project Works
Futures Programme
Not everyone is ready to start an apprenticeship immediately.
The Futures Programme provides structured, low‑pressure exposure to workplaces — focused on careers, not traditional work experience.
- Workplace shadowing opportunities
- Structured Careers Experience placements
- CV development and personal branding support
- Introductions to employers
- Ongoing mentoring and guidance (where appropriate)
- Building confidence
- Developing routine
- Understanding how a workplace operates
Work Experience Pathway
These placements move beyond initial exposure, allowing participants to:
- Apply skills in real working environments
- Build employer relationships
- Gain practical experience linked to future roles
What’s included:
- Structured work experience placements
- Continued CV support
- Employer introductions
- Interview preparation
Extended Placements
Scholarships & Protected Roles
These opportunities are intentionally limited and made available when suitable placements exist, ensuring each individual receives focused, high‑quality support rather than high‑volume placements.
- Living Wage supported opportunities
- Structured progression into apprenticeships
- Additional guidance within supported environments
This approach allows us to prioritise meaningful outcomes over scale.
The Impact
With the right support, structure and opportunity, individuals succeed.
Through our model, participants benefit from:
- Increased confidence and work readiness
- Clear pathways into apprenticeships and employment
- Ongoing mentorship and support
- Access to opportunities that would otherwise be out of reach
This is not about short-term outcomes — it is about long-term progression and sustained success.
Work With Us
You don’t need to commit to a full apprenticeship programme from day one.
There are a number of ways to get involved:
- Provide Careers Experience placements (3 days per week)
- Support work experience opportunities
- Engage with apprenticeship progression pathways
- Offer input, mentoring, or exposure to your organisation
