I wanted to share my wholehearted support for this learners Apprentice of the Year nomination. After reaching out to colleagues across Amazon Ads, Prime Video, and the wider apprentice network for feedback, the response was extraordinary, both in volume and consistency. The sheer weight of feedback from peers, managers, and cross-functional collaborators speaks for itself: This learner has not only excelled in their apprenticeship but has become a standout contributor whose impact reaches far beyond what would typically be expected at this stage.

Apprenticeships are about learning, growth, and potential but this learner has already gone beyond potential. They have delivered measurable outcomes, strengthened teams, improved resources, elevated learning experiences, and earned the trust of colleagues across multiple functions.

The overwhelming feedback I received makes this incredibly clear: They are not only succeeding in their apprenticeship; they are setting a benchmark for what an apprentice can achieve.

I strongly believe they are outstanding candidate for Apprentice of the Year and fully deserving of this recognition. For a learner to have such a positive impact at one of the largest companies in the world speaks volumes, and they are incredibly humble, conscientious and deserving of this award.

Learner of the Year 2025

Harry’s Story

Harry’s journey through his apprenticeship has been nothing short of inspiring. From the outset, it was clear that Harry faced learning challenges that could have made his path more difficult. However, what quickly became apparent was his remarkable resilience, determination, and the proactive strategies he developed to succeed.

Harry demonstrated a mature and practical approach to managing his learning needs. He consistently took detailed notes during meetings and reviewed them afterwards to reinforce his understanding. On occasions, Harry would follow up with a thoughtful email summarising his notes—an initiative that supported his learning and showcased his commitment and self-awareness.
Throughout his apprenticeship, Harry’s growth and achievements stood out:

  • 🎖️ Ginger Nut Training’s Tutor Steve nominated Harry for a national award, though he humbly didn’t see the significance of the recognition.
  • 🎓 As he approached his final assessment, Harry doubted his performance, only to discover he had achieved a DISTINCTION. His Tutor had no doubt he would excel.

Harry has faced educational challenges throughout his life, but he has never let them define him. With the unwavering support of the management team at Datel and his own determination, Harry has thrived in a technical role, developing and applying coping mechanisms that have enabled him to flourish.

Harry is a shining example of perseverance, adaptability, and quiet excellence.  We all at Ginger Nut Training believe he deserves to be recognised as Ginger Nut Training’s Learner of the Year 2025.

Beth

NHS North West Ambulance Service

Beth Bretherton, Digital Communications Assistant , North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust – Level 3 Junior Content Producer Apprenticeship.

Beth has been an outstanding learner throughout the year, consistently demonstrating exceptional dedication, leadership, and a genuine passion for learning. Her proactive approach and commitment to supporting others have made a lasting impact on her peers and the wider learning community.
One of Beth’s most commendable contributions has been her initiative to create a dedicated chat group following our workshops. Recognising the value of ongoing support and collaboration, Beth established a space where learners could connect, share insights, ask questions, and encourage one another. This group has since evolved into a vibrant, inclusive community that continues to enrich the learning experience for everyone involved.
Beth’s generosity and thoughtfulness are further reflected in her habit of taking detailed notes during group sessions and sharing them with the chat group. This ensures that key discussions, concepts, and resources are accessible to all learners—especially those who may have missed a session. Her actions exemplify a deep commitment not only to her own learning but to the success of her peers.
The impact of Beth’s efforts cannot be overstated. Her initiative has fostered a culture of collaboration, mutual support, and continuous learning. She is approachable, encouraging, and always willing to offer guidance—qualities that have made her a natural leader within the group.
Beth’s ability to inspire and uplift others, combined with her consistent engagement and drive, makes her a truly deserving recipient of the Learner of the Year award. Her journey is a shining example of how one learner’s initiative and empathy can elevate the experience for an entire cohort.

Learner of the Year 2022

Emma Roff began her Digital Marketing Apprenticeship with Ginger Nut Training in May 2021, joining ASL Group with a background in creative design and photography but no formal marketing experience. From the outset, Emma demonstrated a natural aptitude for digital marketing, quickly mastering new concepts and delivering high-quality work. Just six months into her role, Emma faced an unexpected challenge: the departure of both the Marketing Director and Demand Generation Manager left her as the sole marketing professional in the business.
Rather than being daunted, Emma rose to the occasion with remarkable resilience and initiative. She took full ownership of the company’s marketing function – managing social media, overseeing the website, running email campaigns, and more.
Her ability to adapt and lead during a period of transition not only impressed her new line manager but also became a testament to her capability and dedication. Emma’s apprenticeship projects reflected her growing confidence and strategic thinking, and she successfully completed her programme in just over a year. Her journey is a shining example of what apprenticeships can achieve, and why she was rightfully named Ginger Nut Training’s Learner of the Year 2022.
