At Ginger Nut Training, we believe that some of the most valuable insights about our programmes come from the people experiencing them every day: our learners.
That’s why learner voice plays such an important role in how we continuously improve the support, training and opportunities we provide.
Listening to learners helps us understand what’s working well, identify areas for improvement and ensure that our apprenticeship programmes continue to meet the needs of those we serve.
What Is Learner Voice?
Learner voice is the process of actively seeking, listening to and acting upon feedback from learners.
It’s about creating opportunities for learners to:
- Share their experiences
- Suggest improvements
- Discuss challenges and successes
- Influence decision-making
- Help shape the future direction of the organisation
At Ginger Nut Training, we believe learners should be more than participants in training programmes. They should be partners in helping us improve them.
Why Is Learner Voice Important?
Better Learning Experiences
The people best placed to tell us about the learner journey are often the learners themselves.
Feedback helps us improve:
- Teaching and learning
- Communication
- Resources
- Systems and processes
- Learner support
Building Confidence
Taking part in learner voice activities encourages learners to speak confidently about their experiences, opinions and ideas.
These communication and leadership skills can be invaluable in the workplace.
Developing Future Leaders
Many of the skills developed through representative roles transfer directly into employment, including:
- Public speaking
- Communication
- Teamwork
- Leadership
- Problem solving
- Influencing others
- Stakeholder engagement
These are the same skills many employers look for when identifying future leaders within their organisations.
Becoming a Learner Representative
One of the ways learners can get involved is by becoming a Ginger Nut Training Learner Representative.
