At Ginger Nut Training, we are passionate about helping young people understand the opportunities available to them and empowering them to make informed decisions about their future careers.
Recently, members of the Ginger Nut Training team attended the Annual Careers Event at Chelmsford City Racecourse, where they had the opportunity to speak with approximately 300 young people from schools across Essex about apprenticeships, career pathways and future opportunities.
Showcasing Apprenticeships in Action
Representing Ginger Nut Training at the event were Jemma Moorey and George Blissett, our Business Administrator Apprentice.
Throughout the day, they spoke with students about:
- Apprenticeships and how they work
- Alternatives to traditional academic routes
- Career development opportunities
- The benefits of combining learning with practical workplace experience
- How apprenticeships can support long-term career progression
Events like these provide a valuable opportunity to challenge misconceptions and help young people understand that there are a variety of routes into successful and rewarding careers.
Real Experiences, Real Insights
One of the highlights of the event was hearing George share his own apprenticeship journey.
As a current apprentice, George was able to provide first-hand insight into:
- What it’s like to be an apprentice
- The skills he’s developing
- The support available throughout an apprenticeship
- How apprenticeships can help individuals gain both qualifications and practical workplace experience
For many students, hearing directly from someone currently undertaking an apprenticeship can be far more powerful than reading about it online or hearing about it in a classroom.

We were delighted to engage with learners from a number of local schools, including:

- Hedingham School and Sixth Form
- Honywood Community Science School
