May Fundraising Round‑Up: Going Further Than We Ever Expected

Apprenticeship News | Blog
Throughout May, the Ginger Nut Training team, made up of staff, learners, and supporters, came together to raise money for Comfort Cases UK.

What We Raised

We’re incredibly proud to share that, as of 16 June, we have raised:
£3,635.19 + £585.17 in Gift Aid
That’s a total of £4,220.36!
To put that into perspective …… this equates to around 80 Comfort Cases backpacks for children entering the care system , providing dignity, essentials, and a sense of belonging at a time when they need it most.
The support received has been genuinely humbling, especially at a time when we know many people are already stretched.

Why Comfort Cases UK Matters

When children enter the care system, far too many do so with their belongings in bin bags.
Comfort Cases UK is working to change that.
By providing thoughtfully packed backpacks filled with essential items, they ensure that every child starting their journey in care is met with dignity, comfort, and immediate support.
Their work makes a real, tangible difference, and it’s something we are proud to support.

A Month of Challenges

Across the month, the team took on a wide range of personal challenges, each representing commitment, effort, and a shared goal.
Some highlights included:
  • 300-length (4.6 mile) swim
  • first-ever 10K run
  • coastal cycling challenge across the Fylde Coast
  • Saltwalk in Menorca
  • charity run across Suffolk
Each challenge was different, but the purpose remained the same:  to raise funds and awareness for a cause that matters.

More Than Fundraising

At Ginger Nut Training, initiatives like this are not separate from what we do , they are part of it.
As part of our delivery, we incorporate annual fundraising and social impact activities into our curriculum, giving learners the opportunity to:
  • Get involved in meaningful projects
  • Build confidence and teamwork
  • Contribute to causes that have real impact
Fundraising isn’t just about raising money ,  it’s about building awareness, empathy and engagement with the world beyond the workplace.

Our Packing Day Experience

One of the most powerful parts of our involvement with Comfort Cases UK was when we took part in a Comfort Cases UK packing day.
Spending time physically assembling the backpacks brought home the impact in a way that fundraising alone cannot. Seeing exactly what goes into each case – and understanding the purpose behind every item – made the cause feel immediate and real.
It’s an experience we would strongly recommend to any organisation.
