We are of course, open to this changing as the course progresses.

The Foundation Apprenticeship in Software and Data (FA0005) is a Level 2 qualification delivering a robust blend of workplace learning and technical training, with apprentices in this program gaining the foundational knowledge and hands-on skills required to manage data and support software development within a modern workplace setting. Competencies span day-to-day tasks, including collating, validating, formatting, and securely storing data, assisting with software testing, and following user requirements—all while adhering to health, safety, security, and cyber‑awareness protocols. The apprenticeship also emphasises well-rounded employability, encouraging strong communication, problem-solving, adaptability, team-working, and ethical use of technology, along with embedded functional English and maths

Assessment is designed to be proportionate and pragmatic, comprising both knowledge tests and practical assessments—which may include simulations, tasks, portfolios, or presentations—to capture authentic workplace capability and progression readiness. Apprentices can expect recognition of their skills and seamless progression either into employment or onto more advanced apprenticeship paths, equipped with verified competence in key digital operations and support roles
