Free counselling for care-experienced apprentices
Sometimes everyone needs someone to talk to.
Through The Ginger Nut Project, we’re funding access to confidential counselling and wellbeing support provided independently by Health Assured for care-experienced apprentices across England.
It’s free to access, available to apprentices of any age, and you don’t need to be a Ginger Nut Training apprentice.
We won’t ask for your name, email address, employer, training provider or details about your care experience. You don’t need to prove anything to us.
Places are limited and subject to availability.
About the programme
What are we offering?
Through The Ginger Nut Project, Ginger Nut Training is funding a limited number of places giving care-experienced apprentices access to counselling and wellbeing support provided independently by Health Assured.
You can use the programme if you are currently undertaking an apprenticeship in England, or completed one within the last 12 months, and have care experience.
There is no age limit and you do not need to be a Ginger Nut Training apprentice.
You won’t need to tell us about your care experience or provide evidence.

Who are Health Assured?
Health Assured is an independent provider of counselling and wellbeing services.
Health Assured provides the service – Ginger Nut Training does not provide counselling or clinical support.
Ginger Nut Training is funding access to the service. We aren’t recommending Health Assured as personally suitable for you, and it’s entirely your choice whether you use the service.
Before you continue
Please check whether you already have free support available.
Many employers provide free confidential counselling through an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), workplace wellbeing service or employee benefits package. Your apprenticeship training provider may also provide counselling or similar support.
Please check what is available through both your employer and training provider before using one of the limited Ginger Nut Project places.
If you’re not sure, you could check your employer’s intranet or benefits information, ask HR, or ask your training provider.
If you already have equivalent free counselling available through either organisation, please use that service instead, so we can keep these limited places available for apprentices who do not have another option.
Ready to continue?
On the next step we’ll ask you to confirm that the programme applies to you.
We won’t ask for your name, email address, employer, training provider or evidence of your care experience.
